We promote health, happiness, and wellbeing

Our commitment to wellbeing extends beyond our workplace to support the communities that support us. We offer charitable donations and community service leave, as well as partnering with organisations to give back as a team. Through partnerships with mining companies and ManUp! Australia, a charity focused on prostate health awareness, we helped raise $40,000 AUD and conducted awareness sessions on early cancer detection, leading to the identification and treatment of approximately 20 prostate cancer cases. Check our Man Up workwear collection here. As part of Bunzl Asia Pacific, our rich wellbeing culture has been recognised through Great Place to Work certification since 2023.

We are committed to Net Zero Emissions

At Bunzl Safety and Lifting, we are always looking for ways to enhance energy efficiency across our sites. From installing energy-saving LED lighting to implementing HVAC zoning and adopting innovative technologies, we are committed to reducing our electricity consumption in our operations.

As part of Bunzl Asia- Pacific’s Carbon Roadmap, we are rolling out rooftop solar installations at major distribution centres. We have been tracking our scope 3 emissions from our goods and services for several years, and have a plan in place to address them. We have recently advanced this plan by engaging with our largest suppliers to better understand their carbon reduction efforts while informing them of our policies, targets, and other requirements.

Transitioning to Circularity

As a member of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO), we continually look for new ways to reduce the negative impacts of our packaging – and we report our progress every year in our APCO Annual Report.

.

We are innovating in product and packaging

We embed circular economy principles to reduce our environmental impact and are committed to the phase-out of problematic and unnecessary single-use plastics packaging as well as sourcing reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging where possible. Recently, we redesigned over 2000 workwear SKUs to remove all plastic packaging. The new design includes recyclable cardboard pack bands, reducing size of swing tags, switching solvent-based inks on cartons to less toxic water-soluble ink and replacing plastic swing ties with cotton cords.

We are proactively enabling better customer choices

To support customers through their procurement processes and recommend the most sustainable product and packaging for their needs, we’ve trained select employees to become Sustainability Ambassadors. Our Ambassadors share their knowledge and expertise throughout Australia.

Our Circular economy efforts have been recognised

Bunzl Safety and Lifting won the Sustainable Packaging plastic to fibre transition for Mack workwear collection at the 2024 Packaging Innovation and Design Awards (PIDA) and is now a finalist for the 2025 WorldStar Packaging Awards. We were also a finalist for Sustainable Packaging Design for the 2024 APCO awards.
